C360 Brass
CNC Machining
Free-machining brass for fast, precise turned parts
C360 is one of the most machinable copper alloys and is widely known as free-machining brass. It is especially well suited to fittings, valves, electrical connectors, threaded adapters, inserts, bushings, instrument parts, and other components that benefit from fast cutting and excellent chip control.

Reference component geometry; alloy grade is confirmed by material certification.

Why C360 machines so well
C360 contains copper and zinc plus a controlled lead addition. The lead helps reduce friction and encourages chips to break rather than form long strings.
Manufacturing benefits include excellent turning, drilling and tapping performance, low cutting forces, predictable chips, good surface finish, and high productivity.
Because C360 contains lead, regulatory and customer requirements should be checked for potable-water, food-contact, medical, electronics, and other controlled applications.
Material values are typical references, not design allowables. Confirm the governing specification, stock form, material certificate and heat-treatment condition for your part.
CNC turning C360
C360 is particularly strong for lathe and mill-turn work:
- Threaded fittings
- Valve bodies
- Inserts
- Electrical connectors
- Spacers
- Bushings
- Sensor fittings
- Instrument hardware
- Knurled parts
- Fastener components
It is often a better choice than pure copper when the part contains many grooves, threads, cross-holes, and small detailed features.

CNC milling C360
C360 can also be milled into manifolds, small housings, valve components, electrical hardware, brackets, and low-friction mechanical components.
Sharp tooling can produce crisp geometry and attractive machined surfaces.

C360 vs. C260
C360 is normally preferred when machining productivity is the main requirement.
C260 is more attractive when forming, ductility, sheet processing, or a different compliance profile matters more than maximum machinability.
C360 vs. C110 copper
C110 offers much higher electrical and thermal conductivity. C360 offers dramatically better machinability.
Choose C110 for busbars, high-current conductors, and thermal parts. Choose C360 for fittings, threads, valves, connectors, and small precision parts where machining cost matters more than maximum conductivity.
Surface finishing
C360 can be polished, bead blasted, nickel plated, tin plated, chrome plated, lacquered, or supplied as machined.
Plating thickness should be included in the dimensional plan for threads, press fits, and electrical interfaces.

Typical C360 parts
- Pneumatic fittings
- Hydraulic fittings
- Electrical connectors
- Threaded inserts
- Valve components
- Instrument hardware
- Bushings
- Spacers
- Small gears
- Custom turned components

Design guidance
Use C360 where machining dominates total part cost. Define edge break and deburring requirements. Review lead-content compliance before locking the material. Avoid applying tight tolerances to every feature when only a few dimensions control function.

Why 6CNC
6CNC focuses on custom precision manufacturing from prototype through small-batch production. Depending on the part, we can combine CNC milling, CNC turning, 5-axis machining, mill-turn, grinding, EDM, finishing coordination, and dimensional inspection.
Our quality capability includes CMM, image measurement, surface-roughness measurement, material analysis, gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools. FAI, SPC, PPAP, COC, material traceability, and customer-specific inspection records can be supported when specified.
