Custom CNC Machined
Flanges

6CNC manufactures custom CNC machined flanges for equipment mounting, fluid interfaces, and automotive assemblies. We coordinate the bolt pattern, locating diameter, sealing face, and material requirements from your drawing.

Custom flange geometries and machined interfaces

These component examples show different flange forms. Manufacturing is reviewed against your drawing, mating components and inspection requirements.

Define the interfaces that control flange performance

Flange dimensions must follow the assembly function. Specify sealing, alignment and fastening requirements separately instead of applying one tight tolerance everywhere.

Sealing face and gasket contact

Identify the gasket or seal, contact area, required surface texture and flatness. Specify grooves or serrations explicitly; a polished surface is not automatically the correct sealing finish.

Bolt circle and hole orientation

Distinguish clearance holes, tapped holes and dowel holes. Dimension the bolt circle and clocking from datums, and identify counterbores or spotfaces.

Locating bore and pilot fit

Separate clearance bores from locating fits. Supply mating dimensions, required fit and reference axis; the bolt pattern alone may not provide accurate location.

Face runout and parallelism

Reference functional faces to the bore or datum axis. State whether runout, perpendicularity or face-to-face parallelism controls the assembly.

Thin sections and clamping

Thin rings and relieved bodies can distort during machining. Review support, material removal and inspection after release from the fixture.

Pressure or operating requirements

Provide the applicable design, material, temperature and test requirements. Machining a flange to size does not establish its pressure rating or validate the complete joint.

Turning, milling or a combined machining route?

Select the route from geometry, stock form, quantity and related features. The process is reviewed from the drawing before quotation.

Part requirementTypical routeWhat to specify
Rotational bores, shoulders and circular facesCNC turning for concentric features and face machining.Bore fit, reference axis, face runout and shoulder dimensions.
Bolt patterns, slots, flats or non-circular outlinesCNC milling, often after turning the main body.Hole position, angular orientation, threads and assembly clearance.
Features on several facesCombined turning and milling with planned locating steps.Common datums and inspection relationships across setups.
Thin rings or ribbed flange bodiesReview stock allowance, fixture support and cutting sequence.Minimum sections and dimensional requirements in the released condition.

Stock and machining route depend on the approved part design. Heat treatment, coatings, leak tests and other special requirements must be included in the quotation scope.

Flanges Machining Specifications

Use these published 6CNC reference ranges to begin your enquiry. The quotation confirms what applies to your actual part.

ItemPublished scope & project review
MaterialsStainless steel, aluminum, brass, and alloy steel.
Published diameter range20–500 mm, subject to geometry and manufacturing review.
Published thickness range2–50 mm; confirm flatness, rigidity, and workholding for the actual design.
Tolerance reference±0.01–±0.05 mm; define bolt position, locating fits, and sealing-face requirements separately.
Production quantity1–600 pieces.
Processes & treatments3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining, turning, and EDM; anodizing, passivation, polishing, or coating as specified.

Materials and delivered-condition requirements

Specify the exact material grade, condition and finish. Material choice follows the operating environment and approved design.

Stainless steel flanges

Specify grade and condition, corrosion requirements and any passivation. Define sealing faces and fits that must be protected during finishing.

Aluminum flanges

Useful where the approved design prioritizes lower mass. Anodizing can affect fits and contacts; identify masking and final dimensional requirements.

Carbon and alloy steel flanges

State grade, heat treatment and protective finish. Plan inspection at the stage relevant to the supplied condition.

Brass and other specified materials

Confirm grade, compatibility and procurement requirements. A material name alone does not establish suitability for a fluid or pressure application.

Inspection Follows the Features That Matter

Agree the bolt-pattern position, bore size, face flatness, thickness, and surface-condition checks. Define any project-specific pressure, leak, or assembly tests and required documentation before the order is released.

6CNC inspection laboratory with measuring equipment and machined components

01

Review the drawing

Confirm the material, geometry, critical features, quantity, and acceptance requirements.

02

Agree the route

Plan machining, workholding, any outside treatments, and inspection checkpoints.

03

Machine & finish

Produce the agreed drawing revision and coordinate the specified finishing sequence.

04

Inspect & prepare

Complete the agreed checks, documentation, and packaging for the order.

Before you enquire

Flanges Machining FAQ

Can you manufacture a nonstandard bolt pattern?

Yes. Supply the bolt circle, hole sizes, angular positions, datum scheme, and mating drawing. 6CNC reviews the complete interface.

Are these standard rated pipeline flanges?

This service is drawing-based custom manufacturing. Supply the required standard, rating, material, testing, and documentation for review; no rating is implied by the catalog.

Which sealing-face finish should I specify?

Use the requirement for your gasket or mating connection, including roughness and geometry. Provide the governing drawing or specification for 6CNC to review.

Can you machine non-standard flange shapes?

Yes, subject to drawing review. Send the outline, central features, hole pattern, material and mating interface requirements so we can evaluate the machining route.

What information is needed for a sealing face?

Provide the seal or gasket requirements, face geometry, flatness, surface texture and any groove dimensions. Identify which requirements apply after coating or finishing.

Can the bore and bolt pattern share a reference?

Yes. Define the functional bore or pilot as a datum where appropriate and specify hole position and orientation relative to the same system.

Are leak tests or pressure tests included?

Only when explicitly agreed in the quotation. Provide the test method, acceptance criteria, medium and documentation requirements; manufacturing does not replace design approval.
