Why Choose PEEK for CNC Machining?

At 6CNC, PEEK is one of our core high-performance plastic materials. It combines the advantages of metal strength with plastic lightness and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal replacement for metals in extreme environments.

Key Advantages

  • Continuous operating temperature up to 260°C (short-term up to 300°C)
  • Excellent mechanical strength, stiffness, and fatigue resistance
  • Superior chemical and hydrolysis resistance
  • Low friction coefficient and high wear resistance
  • Biocompatible and sterilizable (medical grade)
  • Excellent dimensional stability and low moisture absorption
  • Low smoke and toxic gas emission when burned
  • Good electrical insulation properties

Popular PEEK Grades We Machine

Virgin PEEK (Unfilled)

Best chemical resistance and ductility. Ideal for medical, food processing, semiconductor, and analytical instruments.

Significantly improved stiffness and dimensional stability. Suitable for structural components and automotive parts under high temperature.

Highest strength, rigidity, and wear resistance. Commonly used in aerospace, oil & gas, and high-load mechanical parts.

Grade Strength Stiffness Temp. Resistance Key Features Typical Applications
Virgin PEEK Good Good 260°C Best chemical resistance Medical, Food, Semiconductor
PEEK GF30 High Very High 260°C High stiffness Structural, Automotive
PEEK CF30 Very High Extremely High 260°C Max strength & wear resistance Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Bearings

Surface Finishes & Post-Processing

We offer a full range of surface finishing and post-processing options for PEEK parts to meet your requirements for dimensional accuracy, appearance, performance, and cleanliness.

As Machined

The most common and cost-effective finish. Parts come directly from the CNC machine with excellent dimensional accuracy. Typical surface roughness Ra 1.6–3.2 µm. Ideal for functional components where appearance is not critical. With optimized parameters, we can achieve finer finishes up to Ra 0.8–1.6 µm.

Bead Blasting / Sandblasting

Produces a uniform, matte, non-reflective surface. Effectively removes tool marks, burrs, and minor surface imperfections while creating a consistent texture. Often used as a pre-treatment before other finishes or for parts that require a non-slip or aesthetic matte look.

Vapor Polishing

A chemical vapor process that softens and smooths the surface for an extremely smooth, glossy finish on suitable geometries. Note: Due to PEEK’s high chemical resistance, vapor polishing effectiveness is limited compared to other plastics (e.g., PC or Acrylic). Mechanical polishing is usually preferred for best results.

Annealing (Stress-Relief Heat Treatment)

Highly recommended for precision PEEK parts. Annealing relieves internal stresses caused by machining, increases crystallinity, minimizes the risk of warping or cracking, and improves long-term dimensional stability.

Polishing

Achieve high-gloss mirror finish or elegant We provide mechanical polishing to achieve high-gloss or near-mirror surfaces (Ra as low as 0.2–0.4 µm). Particularly important for medical devices, optical components, sealing surfaces, and visible parts. Multi-stage polishing processes are available for critical applications.

Laser Marking / Engraving

Permanent, high-contrast part marking without affecting surface integrity. Ideal for traceability, serial numbers, logos, or compliance markings on medical and aerospace parts.
